About Jake Clark

Being the eldest of 7 children and born and raised at a ranch near Meeteetse, Jake began his hunting career at an extremely early age. Rabbits and deer were the preferences of the family's dinner meat. As he grew up, Jake began to hunt the elk in the high country where his uncle owned his own camps. During college Jake routed his hunting area further north in Sunlight Basin where Kay and her family spent much of their fall. He expanded his knowledge of the area and the wild game habits, by spending most of his fall in the hills. Jake and Kay purchased the camps from Jake's uncle and continued to share their love of the outdoors with their clients. Because of their desire to return to the Sunlight Basin area a camp was purchased and the late season elk hunting became a fond reality. T. J., Jake and Kay's son, with a desire to enter the outfitting world, compelled Jake to expand the business one more time and purchased a camp near Dubois, where the archery season and local elk flourish. Jake also added one more camp to his list where he hunts turkey and whitetail deer in northeastern Wyoming near Devils Tower.

Because of Jake's abilities and his desire to accomplish the tasks set out to do, Jake has succeeded in the outfitting business. He pushes himself and his employees to provide his clients with the trip, which they have paid.

Jake has served on the board of directors for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) from 1993 to 1998. Jake currently serves as the laison between the outfitters and the board of directors. Jake is ringman and manages the RMEF National Convention Auction Crew. Jake is a national supporter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. His outfitting business was the first to receive recognition and award for personally donating items bringing over $350,000 back to the Foundation.  Jake also attends over 5 banquets annually assisting with the auction as a ringman and through trip donations. By working with the RMEF Jake has proven his commitment to the preservation of wildlife and our hunting heritage.

Jake and Kay received RMEF's highest conservation award, "The Wallace Fennel Pate Award" in February 2001 at the national convention. The RMEF presents this prestigious award to those who, in the estimation of the RMEF Board of Directors and staff, have made contributions of lasting significance to the benefit of elk, other wildlife and their habitat throughout North America. The award specifically targets nominees who have made contributions above and beyond their professional responsibilities. "We were elated when we received this award. We both new and admired Wallace, the epitome of a southern gentleman, and his desires were also near and dear to our own hearts, never in our wildest dreams did we think we might achieve such an honor. We shall continue to do what we can to enhance the RMEF mission and promote their goals."
